Career high 8 goals and a minus career player ..... quite a drop considering Gorf had Pysyk getting a top end talent coming back.

Assets: Has obvious offensive instincts and a big shot from the point. Is an outstanding, well-rounded skater with excellent mobility. Likes to aggressively jump in and partake in the offensive side of things.

Flaws: Is lacking in the small nuances of the National Hockey League game, so he needs to keep minimizing his defensive-zone mistakes and utilize his body more effectively in order to make more of a defensive impact.

Career Potential: Talented, inconsistent defenseman with a little upside.

AND moved up in the 2nd round to secure Nylander's linemate from the WJC... I think Pysyk failed to seize his opportunity with the Sabres and Kulikov gets a change of scenery. Kulikov got off to a good start the first 2-3 seasons of his career. After losing his role to Ekblad and others, he did less with a lesser role (no surprise really). If the Sabres coaching staff can't resurrect his career, they let him walk at season's end... No big deal. It's another risk... Murray is a risk taker, he has been clear on that.

Personally, if the Sabres were going to take a smaller forward with that pick... I would have liked to see Alex Debrincat, but the Hawks were wise to jump on him.
